The Sunday Assembly attempted to instill wonder, but without the God of Wonder behind it
“Once 11:00 came the service kicked off with the band.
Yes. There was an atheistic church band. (Bet you never thought you’d read that in your life.) It was led by comedian Pippa Evans.
A (perhaps first-ever) atheistic church band leading the congregation in hits from Queen, Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone.
Once the band had captured our attention, the “pastor” figure of this service exploded onto the stage. And he was hilarious.
Rightfully so, as the entire service was led by British comedian Sanderson Jones. Jones kicked the service off by warmly welcoming everyone and offering an amusing story of how he had learned that it was actually fellow atheists, not Christians as he had expected, who vocally disapproved of The Sunday Assembly.
He displayed a screenshot of his twitter feed from one disgruntled atheist who claimed that the term “church” to all atheists is like the term “concentration camp” to all Jews. Jones made short work of the mystery atheist – it was pretty funny.
After his introduction, we sang a Queen song as the service moved along.”

Simon Hewat said he never knew about world heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali’s Irish ancestry.
Hewat, who was born and raised in Dublin, attended the grand opening of “The Fighting Irishmen: Celebrating Celtic Prizefighters 1820-Present” at the McClelland Irish Library in Phoenix last week.
The Scottsdale resident became a member of the library the day before the exhibit’s debut and said he learned new things about his Irish culture.
“Most people associate the Irish with kelly-green leprechauns and beards,” he said. “But this exhibit is the real deal. It represents the real-life history of Irish people in America in a unique way.”

Florida judge approves birth certificate listing three parents
MIAMI (Reuters) – A Florida judge has approved the adoption of a 22-month-old baby girl that will list three people as parents on her birth certificate — a married lesbian couple and a gay man.
The decision ends a two-year paternity fight between the couple and a friend of the women who donated his sperm to father the child but later sought a larger role in the girl’s life.
The ruling means the child’s birth certificate will include a biological father and both women as parents in an unusual arrangement approved recently by a Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge.
The women, Maria Italiano, 43, and Cher Filippazzo, 38, had made several unsuccessful attempts to become parents using fertility clinics.
They then turned to Italiano’s hair dresser, Massimiliano Gerina, and asked if he would provide his sperm for artificial insemination.
“When push came to shove, they figured he would understand the situation,” said Kenneth Kaplan, an attorney for the women.
“The mistake they made, however, was there should have been a written document spelling out what his rights and responsibilities were going to be.”
According to Filippazzo, the three reached a verbal agreement before Italiano became pregnant. Filipazzo said the agreement meant she would adopt the baby and the two women, a longtime couple, would raise the child together.
But shortly before the baby was born, Gerina decided he wanted to be considered a parent and not a sperm donor. The women disagreed. Under Florida law, sperm donors have no legal rights to children.
Gerina hired a lawyer, setting off nearly two years of legal wrangling.
Under the judge’s decision, the two women will have sole parental rights, although Gerina will be allowed to visit the child. He will not be expected to provide child support.
“We’re trying to do the right thing for Emma,” Filippazzo said. “We want Emma to have it all, and we believe by doing it this way, including him in a birthday or Thanksgiving, it’ll be a nice addition for her.”
“We believe the best interest for Emma is for him to have a role in her life, but not as a parent,” she said. “The role is this is mommy’s good friend who helped your moms have you because they wanted you so badly.”

‘Longest Married’ couple in U.S….
John and Ann Betar of Fairfield, Conn., said “I do” on Nov. 25, 1932, and have been happily married for 80 years. Together they have five children, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The couple was selected for the 2013 award by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a Christian marriage enrichment group based in San Bernardino, Calif., that organizes a search each year to promote the virtues of lasting marriages and inspire young couples.
“What an inspiration Mr. and Mrs. Betar are to all of us. They made a commitment to each other 80-plus years ago and they have kept that commitment over these many years. They truly are a sign of hope to us all,” Worldwide Marriage Encounter’s Ron and Judy Pekny said in a statement.

THE DREAM……

I awoke about 4:00 am from a very graphic dream. Most of the time, dreams of mine are the result of too much pizza or spicy food, but there are those times when I am convinced they are messages from God. On the heels of last night’s Superbowl, I believe this was.
In my dream I was called to perform a wedding, and when I arrived at the church, another minister was beginning the ceremony as I waited my turn to participate. As the wedding proceeded, someone somehow informed me that the “Groom” in this wedding was entering an adulterous relationship, and had no biblical right to remarry. Furthermore, it became more and more obvious that this was going to be a “Same Sex” wedding–the attempted union of two men. Then the minister turned his focus toward me as if I were the other partner in this so-called wedding, and not just another minister in it.
Needless to say, this made me furious and I could not contain myself but began to cry out that not only was I not a “party” to this, I would have nothing to do with it, that I was there as a minister of the gospel. It was then that someone somehow communicated a message to me saying, “Anything you condone by your presence you have chosen to be a partner in!” And then, thank God, I awoke!!
Most of the commercials on last night’s Superbowl either exploited women, glorified sex, or promoted alcohol. The halftime show had to be turned off at our house because it looked more like what I would surmise someone would see in a strip joint, not what one wants in the living room for prime time! Much of TV and film “entertainment” glorifies adultery, is saturated with alcohol, fowl language, and violence!
As I awoke from my dream, this Scripture was running through my mind, “Who knowing the judgments of God, that they who commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but HAVE PLEASURE in them that do them” (Romans 1:32 emphasis mine).
Do we derive our entertainment from those things The Lord hates? Or do we “delight ourselves in The Lord?” Paul makes it clear in 1 Corinthians 5 that we cannot totally avoid ungodly people. To do so would mean we would have to leave the earth altogether (1 Corinthians 5:10). Furthermore, if we avoid all sinners, we cannot be a witness. But to “take pleasure” (or be entertained, as one translation says) in what they do (Romans 1:32) is another thing.
Every believer–especially parents and grandparents–need to pray as never before for discernment and wisdom to make right choices about our sources of entertainment.
Anything you condone with your presence, you have chosen to be a partner in!

Nu l-am cunoscut pe Alexandru dar l-am vazut aseara la spitalul de chirurgie plastica. A fost adus in urma in urma unui accident prin electrocutare. O imagine cutremuratoare, cum rar mi-a fost dat sa vad.
Mama lui se ghemuise de durere si epuizare pe un scaun in holul de asteptare. Bunica imi spunea printre lacrimi ca Aexandru mai venea pe la adunare din cand in cand. Nu s-a botezat pentru ca nu se simtea pregatit.
Cand a fost adus la spital a spus personalului medical ca vede doua porti: a iadului si a raiului si ca nu vrea sa intre pe poarta iadului. Acum este in coma indusa iar noua ne raman tacerile chinuite si suferinta unei neputinte care sfasie.
Am stat in fata unui tanar de 19 ani ars in proportie de 95% care isi traieste ultimile clipe. Ma gandeam, rugandu-ma, la un singur cuvant: “aşadar, nu atârnă nici de cine vrea, nici de cine aleargă, ci de Dumnezeu care are milă.” Imi doresc ca Dumnezeu sa aiba mila de el.
In toiul vietii umbra mortii stie sa se furiseze si sa isi ia plata. Daca am trai in neprihanire ar pleca cu mana goala.
Sa avem grija ce facem cu viata noastra! Sa traim astfel incat sa lasam in urma noastra certitudini, nu intrebari dureroase.
E o zi de luni, e inceput de saptamana, e o indurarea noua a lui Dumnezeu pentru orice suflet. Fii intelept si foloseste bine timpul pe care Tatal ceresc ti l-a daruit!
In fond cine stie cat ne-a mai ramas?

Slujesc sistemului sau slujesc lui Dumnezeu?…..
“…….am început să cântam altfel de cântece, folosind instrumente, să ieșim pe strada la evanghelizare, mai târziu să lucrăm în casele de copii, sa organizam tabere – ȘI ASTA a fost deranjant. Nu a fost vorba de teologie, ci de practicile noastre. Învațătura oferită, consilierea personala, implicarea în slujire i-au făcut pe tineri să rămână aproape de noi – deși asta însemna izolarea lor în cadrul bisericilor de care aparțineau. Astfel, la un moment dat aveam un grup de 35 -40 persoane care nu mai erau acceptate în biserici, dar avusesera experiența unui alt fel de viață creștină și doreau să o continue. Am început biserica în 1998, după tabăra naționala de la Voroneț, una deosebit de puternica spiritual – când un grup de slujitori din Bucovina au venit sa preia controlul și să opreasca ”discoteca”– atunci am realizat că încapațnarea mea de a rămâne împreună cu frații nu se mai justifica. Ca și misiune crestină, NU eram parte a nici unei structuri bisericesti, astfel atunci când am declarat intenția de a functiona ca și biserica am fost abordați pentru a deveni parte a Cultului penticostal, insa condițiile impuse pentru asta erau inacceptabile. Practic ar fi trebuit sa renunțăm la tot ce ne facea diferiți de celălalte biserici, și nu am fost gata să plătim acel preț……”

Bisericile Nondenominaționale din Timișoara susțin:
1. Mandatul Bisericii universale și autonomia bisericii locale:
a. Biblia este singura normă care are dreptul de-a ghida viața, conduita și doctrina bisericii;
b. Prin autonomie înțelegem libertatea de-a hotărî viziunea, structura cât și stilul de închinare specific contextului nostru cultural;
2. Unitatea în esență și diversitatea în forme:
a. Unul dintre scopurile noastre este lauda și închinarea prin care Îl glorificăm pe Hristos și îi aducem pe oameni în prezența lui Dumnezeu;
b. Noi recunoaștem diversitatea stilurilor muzicale, a formelor de închinare vechi și nou testamentale, încurajând calitatea și creativitatea, toate acestea pe fondul înțelegerii corecte a Scripturii, Biblia fiind principala sursă de inspirație și normă de corectare a laudei și închinării noastre.
Astfel, închinarea biblică, practicată în diferitele ei forme, va aduce revelație și transformare pentru a fi tot mai vizibil în noi chipul lui Hristos.

SA CASTIGI RAZBOIUL SPIRITUAL…
din volumul “Slujitorul adevarat, Slujitorul care schimba lumea”
Efeseni 6:12: “Caci noi n-avem de luptat impotriva carnii si sangelui, ci impotriva capeteniilor, impotriva domniilor, impotriva stapanitorilor intunericului acestui veac, impotriva duhurilor rautatii care sunt in locurile ceresti.”
Noi, ca si slujitori ai Domnului, suntem in razboi. De aceea trebuie sa fim echipati ca pentru razboi.
1 Pentru 5:8: “Fiti treji, si vegheati! Pentru ca potrivnicul vostru, diavolul, da tarcoale ca un leu care racneste si cauta pe cine sa inghita.”
Cred ca ati observat din acest pasaj biblic ca Satana nu intentioneaza sa ia prizioneri ci sa distruga, sa devoreze credinciosii Domnului. Strategia lui in acest razboi este de a forma cat mai multe “intarituri” in viata credinciosului, mai ales in viata slujitorilor lui Dumnezeu, spre a le folosi ca rampa de lansare a atacurilor impotriva oamenilor. Aceste “intarituri” pot fi un pacat sau o conditie premergatoare pacatului, cum ar fi: descurajarea, indoiala, mania, amaraciunea, dorinta de revansa, flirtarea cu pacatul, patima rea, cautarea de placeri si lacomia.
Multi oameni mi-au relevat in marturisirile lor tactica celui rau. De multe ori, curiozitatea chiar “omoara pisica” (“Curiozitatea a ucis pisica” – este un proverb american folosit pentru a avertiza despre pericolul experientelor fara motiv…..Nota traducatorului). Sa luam ca exemplu pornografia. Cineva poate gandi, ce stricaciune, ce prejudiciu poate produce o flirtare usoara cu pornografia? Prin urmare, ei incearca sa strecoare o privire curioasa vizitand pe internet o pagina de orientare pornografica. Primul pas e mai greu si dupa aceea se trezesc saracii oameni ca sunt dependenti de ea. Pornografia este unul din pacatele de moarte tocmai pentru ca nu pare mare lucru la suprafata. Una din denominatiunile mari au trimis un chestionar tuturor slujitorilor sai si i-au rugat sa raspunda in mod anonim. Din toti care au raspuns 65 de procente au admis ca pornografia a jucat un anumit rol in viata lor.
Da, diavolul foloseste ispite ce par usoare sa insele vigilenta slujitorilor lui Dumnezeu, pacalindu-i sa creada ca nu fac nimic rau, daunator. Insa pasul urmator este decaderea slujitorului in mod vertiginous.
Un alt exemplu des intalnit: sentimentul de furie, de amaraciune ori de dorinta de revansa pentru ceva ce s-a intamplat gresit sau numai asa ai perceput tu. La prima vedere ai putea sa te simti indreptatit dar adapostirea acestor sentimente pot provoca in viata ta o deteriorare, pot crea un suflet mahnit. Intretinand mania si amaraciunea poti ajunge ca tu sa comiti nedreptati. Stii ca poti fi drept uneori dar in acelasi timp sa fii si gresit?
O nedreptate comisa impotriva ta nu justifica o alta nedreptate comisa de tine. Pavel ne spune: “Caci armele cu care ne luptam noi, nu sunt supuse firii pamantesti, ci sunt puternice, intarite de Dumnezeu ca sa surpe intariturile.” (2 Corinteni 10:4). Daca vom folosi arme firesti vom putea culege roadele a ceea ce o astfel de arma poate aduce. Dar daca vom folosi armele lui Dumnezeu vom culege roadele folosirii lor de la Dumnezeu.
Satana foloseste uneori un prieten nevinovat sau un membru al familiei ca sa alimenteze aceste autocompatimiri.
Prin aceste afirmatii simtamintele tale sunt deformate si vezi musuroiul unei cartite ca pe un deal.
Ahitofel a fost sfatuitorul lui David, dar dupa pacatul lui David cu Batseba, nepoata sa, nu l-a mai iertat pe David in inima lui. Amarat, el se uneste cu Absalom in incercarea de a-l inlatura pe David de pe tron. David se pocaieste de pacatul sau (citeste Psalmul 51, o extraordinara rugaciune de pocainta) iar Dumnezeu iertandu-l, ii promite scaunul de domnie al Israelului pe vecie. Ce face Ahitofel? Nevinovat de pacatul lui David, totusi nu reuseste niciodata sa treaca peste ‘’tradarea’’ lui David si in cele din urma se sinucide.
Din nou, poti fi drept dar sa sfarsesti gresit. Tu poti lasa, prin neveghere, ca pacatul cuiva sa se intoarca spre tine si sa te distruga.
Daca esti ranit sau amarat impotriva cuiva, chiar avand dreptate dar neputand sa-l ierti, trebuie sa lucrezi neaparat la aceasta decizie de iertare. Iertarea nu este un sentiment, este o optiune, o alegere. Apoi Duhul Sfant in tine te va ajuta ce decizie sa faci.
Fiecare “intaritura” a Satanei va slabi fundatia experientelor tale cu Dumnezeu si va impiedica partasia ta si relatia ta cu Dumnezeu. Cum trebuie de preintampinat aceste strategii ale celui rau? Cum ne vom lupta in acest razboi spiritual?
In primul rand, ocoleste, evita ispitele. Nu-i oferi celui rau o tinta ca el trage. Isus a accentuat evitarea ispitelor in Rugaciunea Domneasca. El a spus: “…si nu ne duce in ispita, ci izbaveste-ne de cel rau…” (Matei 6:13). Deasemenea, El ne porunceste “Feriti-va de orice se pare rau” (! Tesaloniceni 5:22).
Foarte putini credinciosi in mod intentionat fac lucruri rele si gresite. La inceput se incepe cu un gand distractiv catre un anumit lucru crezand ca oricand vrei il poti inlatura usor. Crezi ca totul este in control. Dar regula confirma ca puterea seductiva a acelui gand nevinovat este atat de fascinant incat incepi sa nu mai opui nici o rezistanta si curand realizezi ca numai controlezi nimic. Controlul l-ai avut numai la inceput cand puteai sa decizi sa nu flirtezi cu pacatul. Iacov 1:15: “Apoi pofta, cand a zamislit, da nastere pacatului; si pacatul odata faptuit, aduce moartea.”
Ce altceva am putea face in acest razboi spiritual? Castigarea lui necesita o vigilenta aparte impotriva ispitelor. Cere o umblare continua si de aproape cu Dumnezeu unde ispitele vor putea fi infrante de la inceput. Numai protectia lui Dumnezeu poate cu adevarat sa te pazeasca neatins. Cere o cunoastere deplina a Cuvantului lui Dumnezeu cu care poti contracara minciunile ademenitoare si seducatoare ale celui rau. Cere sa renunti la sentimentele negative din viata ta care te golesc de vitalitatea spirituala, sa poti inainta fara sarcini si bagaje. Cere sa pastrezi tot timpul focusul pe chemarea lui Dumnezeu ca sa ramai acolo unde Dumnezeu vrea sa fii. Cere sa lucrezi pentru Dumnezeu si pentru oameni cu lepadare de sine, sa nu devii o tinta usoara pentru cel rau. Cere sa ai o atitudine de lauda si inchinare, o arma sigura tot timpul invingatoare impotriva ispitelor Satanei.
