Man Behind Anti-Muslim Film Believed To Be Cerritos Resident

A federal judge on Thursday ordered the man behind a crudely produced anti-Islamic video that inflamed parts of the Middle East to be detained because he is a flight risk.

U.S. Central District Chief Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal ordered Nakoula Basseley Nakoula held after authorities said he violated terms of his probation.

Nakoula, 55, was convicted in 2010 for federal check and sentenced to 21 months in prison. Under terms of his probation, he was not allowed to use computers or the Internet for five years without approval from his probation officer.

Nakoula was arrested after federal probation officials determined he violated the terms of his supervised release, Thomas Mrozek, a U.S. Attorney‘s spokesman in Los Angeles, said Thursday.

Protests have erupted around the Middle East over a 14-minute trailer for “Innocence of Muslims,” which depicts Muhammad as a womanizer, religious fraud and child molester. Though the trailer was posted to YouTube in July, the violence didn’t break out until Sept. 11 and has spread since, killing dozens.

Nakoula, a Christian originally from Egypt, went into hiding after he was identified as the man behind the trailer.

The full story about Nakoula and the video still isn’t known.

  1. What about all the untrue statements that are made by Muslims about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ? What’s about these provocative allegations Muslims makes concerning Christians? Is it that fact that we Christians are not violence that is why we’ve been down played? I don’t think Nakoula Basseley Nakoula deserves any imprisonment. The government needs to be fair and remember that this country is a place of freedom of speech, religion, and that all men are created equal in the eyes of God. Does this mean that the US government is trying to side with the Muslims and down play the Christian, when the country was build on Christian principles? Where in the world will a Christian go in a country nation and say something about an Islamic religion without being killed? Can a follower of Jesus Christ ever go to Saudi Arabia and say or talk about Jesus Christ Publicly with being burned or killed? But we claim to be people of freedom of speech, yet we look down on Christianity.
There need to be a change, somebody in the top group need to see the right and put it to where it belong. No judge has the right to put a man in jail for saying some leader married many wives or what ever.
When some people posted that Jesus Christ was a gay on the internet couple of years ago did we christian protest? What is going on America. What is going on U.S. Central District Chief Magistrate Judge Suzanne Segal? What are you thinking? Are you a muslim? Let us Christian know who side you are on.
